We, the participants of the People’s Festival of Resistance for Peace, Democracy, and Liberation, gather at a time when millions of people around the world are facing war, displacement, poverty, repression, and deepening inequality. While governments spend billions on weapons and military expansion, working people struggle with rising costs of living, shrinking social services, and worsening economic conditions. Communities resisting exploitation and defending their rights are increasingly met with violence, criminalization, and attacks on democratic freedoms. In response to these challenges, we come together in Brussels in solidarity to strengthen our common struggle for a just and lasting peace, genuine democracy, and the liberation of all oppressed peoples.
For Peace. We reject wars of aggression, military occupation, settler colonialism, foreign intervention, and the growing militarization of our societies. We reject the diversion of public resources away from social services and towards weapons, military expansion, and war preparations. We stand for the right of all peoples to self-determination and sovereignty, free from foreign domination and external interference.
For Democracy. We reject political repression, attacks on civil liberties, red-tagging, censorship, and all efforts to silence the people’s resistance. We support the right of peoples to organize, speak out, assemble, and participate fully in society and in decisions that affect their day to day lives. We support democratic institutions and processes that are accountable to the people and responsive to their needs.
For Liberation. We reject all systems of exploitation and oppression that keep peoples and nations in conditions of poverty, dependence, and subjugation. We support the struggles of workers, peasants, women, indigenous peoples, migrants, youth, and oppressed nations for social justice, equality, and self-determination. We support the right of peoples to control their resources, defend their livelihoods, and pursue a path of development that serves the many rather than the few. We affirm that liberation requires both freedom from oppression and the transformation of the conditions that perpetuate injustice.
We recognize that the challenges before humanity are immense, but we also recognize the strength that comes from the people’s collective action. We commit to strengthening cooperation and solidarity among peoples and movements across borders, to resisting war, repression, and exploitation wherever they occur, and to advancing the shared struggle for peace, democracy, and liberation.
